Position Summary:

The Maintenance Technician I is responsible for installations, repairs, and troubleshooting that may include areas of minor electrical, plumbing, and carpentry.  Additionally is responsible for, when needed, snow removal, landscaping, painting, and repair of Organizational facilities and vehicles.

Essential Duties:

All duties to be performed according to the established standard and in compliance with all company policies and procedures while maintaining regular, prompt attendance:

 

  • Removes snow and ice at Organizational facilities when needed, using appropriate equipment; shovel, snow-plow, snow-blower, ice melt, or other required equipment

  • Maintains Organizational facilities’ landscaping, including mowing and shrubbery maintenance as needed

  • Paints interior and exterior Organizational facilities and Organizational property as needed

  • Installs necessary objects and equipment within Organizational facilities and vehicles when needed

  • Installs, maintains, and makes minor repairs to Organizational appliances, equipment, vehicles or other items

  • Completes general maintenance and installations that may include the areas of, but not limited to: electrical, plumbing, or carpentry

  • Makes minor purchases of equipment and materials when needed

  • Attends required shifts and trainings and is punctual

  • Complies with Organizational and supervisorial policies, procedures, and guidelines respectively

  • Reads applicable logs, notes, e-mails, memos, and checks mailbox for information and utilizes information accordingly

  • Completes applicable documentation thoroughly and accurately

  • Communicates Organization-relevant information among co-workers and supervisor

  • Completes two hours of volunteer services each calendar year from among the approved list of community sites.

Other Duties:

 

  • Represents the Organization professionally within the community and Organization

  • Respects neighbors, vendors, and individuals served and their property

  • Follows state and federal vehicle transportation laws when operating an Organizational vehicle

  • Performs other related duties as designated by supervisor

Physical Demands:

The tasks of this position generally requires duties to be performed by:

  • Frequently lift and move up to 20 lbs. above shoulder height, 30 lbs. to shoulder height, 80 lbs. to waist height unaccompanied and up to 150 lbs. to waist height with team assistance.

  • Regularly sit/stand/walk for duration of shift.

  • Frequently required to stoop, climb (ladders up to 20’ high), kneel, or balance on ladders, platforms and slippery surfaces. 

  • Coordinated use of hands and fingers to grasp, feel objects, transfer small items from one hand to another, fine manipulation, and bilateral reach with arms.

  • Use of close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

  • Fast paced, office/home environment.

  • Regularly work with others.

  • The noise level is generally moderate however ranges from quiet to loud depending on location and type of work being performed.

  • Regularly required to work with or around chemicals.

  • Work area may be wet/dirty. 

  • Regularly works near moving mechanical parts.

  • Occasionally works under extreme weather conditions while performing duties outside year-round.

Safety and Ergonomic Requirements:

  • Must practice safe work practices at all times and report any unsafe conditions immediately.

  • Required to wear the appropriate PPE, including but not limited to safety eyewear and enclosed shoes.

  • Follow all Lock Out/Tag Out procedures as required for both authorized and affected users.

  • Attend and participate in all required safety trainings.

  • Participate in daily ergonomic stretches and follow all ergonomic requirements of the position.

  • Follow all personal dress requirements according to the established dress code and safety requirements.

  • Ensure proper disposal of hazardous/non-hazardous waste.

Qualification Requirements:

Education/Experience

H.S. Diploma or G.E.D and six months of related work experience

 

Language Ability

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.  Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

 

Math Ability

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

Computer Skills

Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office programs including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Outlook.

 

Certificates and Licenses

Maintains a valid Class D driver’s license and compliance with Organizational insurance driving guidelines.
